In moments of nervousness, maybe when under pressure or being distracted, do you find yourself oversharing and unable to stop talking in a comfortable way? Potentially the listener even misunderstands your personality and true character?
If the answer is yes, I want to share with you that this happens when our voice loses its grounding!
Our voice is supposed to resonate in our chest and belly in order to sound rich and grounded, However, when we are nervous, the primitive part of our brain (AKA the reptilian part of our brain) creates tension in the belly and chest, limiting our voice to the throat only, leaving us sounding stifled, high-pitched and stuck in monotone.
The 2 main solutions are:
1) Strengthen the muscles around the vocal cords, so that your voice sounds authentic even when under pressure or being distracted.
2) Retrain the primitive part of your brain to become immune and comfortable when under pressure, so that the belly and chest don't tighten up and remain relaxed and dynamic.
