If having to perform all the time is exhausting you, you might feel a sense of "I'm not good enough" or "I need to be perfect to be accepted", yet your whole life is based around performance to the point where your body is chronically tense and your vocal power is stifled, you are not alone.
The need to perform commonly stems from the need to feel accepted during our younger years as a coping mechanism.
The paradox is that, as an adult, the need to perform can negatively impact your health, personal relationships, and professional ones.
Well, how do you resolve this paradox then?
Here is a quick step in the right direction:
Imagine an ice cream buffet of positive emotions. Choose your favorites.
Now imagine these emotions flowing from the sky into your head, voice, and chest, all the way down through your body.
Take 3 deep belly breaths, allowing these emotions to sink deeper into your muscles, skin, and bones.
Congratulations! You just increased the immunity of your nervous system.

Doing this simple exercise regularly releases tension from the body, calms the mind, and trains your mind that emotions are okay to feel.
